PRESENT YOURSELVES OUR READERS...
hi, i'm Rob from the Small Jackets, i'm doing this interview cause i'm the only english-speaker in the band, so there was no other choice :-)
WHO ARE SMALL JACKETS AS BAND MEMBERS?
Lu Silver is the singer and rithm guitar's player, Danny Savanas is the Drummer, Rob Nobody is the Bass player and Eddy Curent is the amazing lead guitar
WHEN DID YOU HAVE FOUNDED THE BAND?
LU and Danny founded the band in 2002, i joined the band in the end of 2003 and Eddy came play with us in 2004.
WOULD YOU LIKE TO TALK ABOUT THE VERY FIRST BEGINNING OF BAND...
i wasn't in the band in the really first beginning, i heard from the guys it was really hard to play cause the first bass player and the first guitar player
used to argue and fight everytime..
since when the band has this line up the things work really better, even thou it's easy to hear us scream bad words to eachother, everything seems to be ok.
WHAT'S ABOUT YOUR PREVIOUS RECORDING-EFFORTS?
"Effort" is the right word in this case, cause the recording job wasn't that easy in both of the albums. personally i'm really proud of both of them, i like the sound (even if
if it's so diffrent between "play at high level" and "walking the boogie"), and i like the songs also.
There's always something you'd like to change in an album after you finish it, but i think we really improved our sound with Walking the boogie, it's more mature than play at high level...but
the first one was more aggressive and powerful..i don't even know what's my favourite..really.
we like more playing gigs than staying days and days in a recording studio by the way.
WHAT'S ABOUT YOUR FOLLOWING?
Split 7" with Zamarro from Swizerland, and touring with them to promote it.
THE MOST IMPORTANT FACTS IN YOUR HISTORY?
Maybe the italian tour with the Hellacopters in December 2005...it's been so funny and we played pretty good.
lots of people saw us the first time in that circumstance, so we started having more audiance than before.
ANY INTRODUCTIVE WORDS TO "WALKING THE BOOGIE"?
Seventies, Rock'n'roll, sounds good...Enough????
HOW DO YOU SUCCEED IN HOSTING NICK ROYALE AND STRINGS?
As i said before, we were touring together and we were recording Walking the boogie in that period, so we asked them if they'd like to play
some guitar solos in one of our songs...and they said ok, that's it...luckyness i guess...
THE SOUND IS A MIX OF SEVENTIES HARD ROCK AND PUNK, DO YOU AGREE?
i agree, even if i think that the only punk influence in the band could be me: the other members are really far from that kind of background,
i grew up listening all the kind of punk-hardcore, i used to play it when i was a kid,but i've always been open-minded and i listen lot kind of music...
Lu and Danny have a different music culture, mostly 70s hard rock and rock'n'roll.
WHAT'S ABOUT THE PRODUCTION OF ALBUM?
We recorded at FEAR STUDIO in Ravenna Italy, i like the way they worked, maybe they tried to be TOO CLEAN for us in the making of the sound,
but the final result satisfied us.
ANY PARTICULAR CONCEPT CONCERNING THE ALBUM?
no concepts, as you can listen from the lyrics....ihihih
WHAT'S THE MOOD OF IT?
mood? well...happy..i don't know...the fact is that it makes you move your head and move your hands like you're playing an air guitar!!
THE MOST SALIENT ASPECTS OF YOUR NEW ALBUM?
i don't know...just Buy it and then tell me!!!!
WHAT'S ABOUT THE FEEDBACK? WHAT DO YOU WANT TO COMMUNICATE WITH YOUR SOUND?
Everytime i read about walking the boogie i'm glad, cause it seems people always understand what we wanted to express: our interpretation of rock'n'roll, in a direct way,
with no intellectual-modern-electronic Shit...easy as fuck!!!
We already played 59 gigs for the walking the boogie tour, next plan is going to swizerland with Zamarro to promote a split in April 07.
YOUR LIFE'S PHILOSOPHY?
SEX FOOD MUSIC are the best things in life...but maybe sex is the best one...
THE FUTURE OF THE BAND?
WHO KNOWS?!?!!? life is STRANGE, nobody can say that.
ANY LAST REMARKS?
thanx a lot 4 the interview and for your intrest in Small Jackets, hope to see you in front of the Stage..FASHION PASSES, STYLE REMAINS!!! BYE
