INTRODUCE YOURSELF TO OUR READERS...
Hi everybody! Pleased to meet you! We are the SHW, an italian Pop-Rock band!
WHO ARE THE MEMBERS OF THE BAND?
Roberto Bonazzoli "Bona Head" (vocals, piano and keyboards); Diego Capelli "Brick" (Guitars, backing vocals); Stefano Sarzi "Japo" (Bass guitar); Graziano Capelli (Drums, piano).
WHEN DID YOU ESTABLISH THE BAND?
The band was established on January 1995. We began to write our songs some years ago, after a long experience in “live” tours with covers of U2, Queen, Radiohead, etc.
WOULD YOU LIKE TO TELL US SOMETHING ABOUT THE DEBUT OF THE BAND...
Actually... I don't remember. Joking aside, in May 2004 the band published its first demo, “Psychotheque EP”, which contains five songs plus a videoclip of the unpublished "Momentary Visions". Thanks to this demo we took part in several national competitions and festivals throughout Italy.
WHAT'S ABOUT YOUR FOLLOWING GOALS?
Two years after "Psychotheque EP", in January 2006, “Psychotheque” came out in many music stores as a début album published by "New LM Records" (Ravenna - Italy) and distributed by Masterpiece.
WHAT'S NEXT FOR YOU NOW?
Currently we are working hard in studio in order to prepare the new songs for the second album! Hope you're gonna like it!?
WHICH ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT MOMENTS IN YOUR CAREER?
Hard question! For sure the recording sessions and the publication of Psychotheque they represent an important goal reached after many years of efforts and waiting.
HOW TO INTRODUCE YOUR DEBUT ALBUM?
Psychotheque, the "psyche case", contains eleven songs. It's a journey through moods and feelings of the members of the band . Music and words are permeated by pop-rock sonorities and psychedelic undertones. We think the project, though not being a real concept-album, maintains a very consistent logical and conceptual trend. The lyrics, all written in english, describe introspections and experiences from real life.
THE SOUND OF YOUR SONGS IS A SORT OF POP GOTHIC ROCK, ISN'T IT?
Well... we think that Pop Gothic Rock is a narrow definition. It doesn't fit properly our production. Moreover we don't listen to Gothic Rock bands! We got amazed to receive this label. Rather, we prefer "psychedelic Pop-Rock".
WHICH ARE THE MOST SALIENT ASPECTS OF YOUR SOUND?
As we have already said previously, music and words are permeated with Pop-Rock sonorities and psychedelic undertones.
IS THERE ANY PARTICULAR CONCEPT CONCERNING THE ALBUM?
The lyrics describe introspective aspects and experiences from real life. We like to speak metaphorically. "Unlikely wood, perfect maze, strange flares all around, so many snears on the ground, reassuring planes". They are some examples of our way to communicate sensations and moods.
WHAT'S THE MOOD OF IT?
Reviewers describe Psychotheque as a melancholy and crepuscular album. We think that there are so many different nuances that characterize the songs. Broken is a song that sounds rather grunge. Epochal Babel, Psychotheque and Sleepwalkers sounds slightly psychedelic. Hullabaloose is a very strange song! We cannot manage to describe it! Mind Chambers is a post- Alternative Rock song, Broken (part 2) is futuristic electro-instrumental. As you can see Psychotheque can satisfy every taste!
WHICH ARE THE MOST SALIENT ASPECTS OF YOUR NEW ALBUM?
Well, our début album is a bit complicated. Though not being a real concept-album, it maintains a consistent logical and conceptual trend. There are no more salient aspects but eleven chapters of a sort of virtual book!
WHAT ABOUT THE FEEDBACK?
In our opinion the most important thing is to be present. To remain in someone's memories. We don't want to be only a product. We don't consider music as a simple product to sell. A few labels happily say: <<We are sold out, we are sold out!>> Oh, gosh!? This is the music business but not our point of view. For us it's much different...
WHAT DO YOU WANT TO COMMUNICATE WITH YOUR SOUND?
We would like to communicate experiences from real life without making useless controversies.
TOUR PLANS?
Well, on summer 2004, 2005 and 2006 we took part in several national competitions and festivals throughout Italy. We played all songs of Psychotheque and fortunately people did like them! About the next tours... wait and see!
WHICH IS YOUR LIFE'S PHILOSOPHY?
Don't panic! If you fail you mustn't grumble over! Don't lose your way! Have we convinced you?
THE FUTURE OF THE BAND?
We hope in a future full of new songs, new videos, new albums, European tours, satisfactions and positive things! That's all! We try to be matter-of-fact people even if it isn't simple to be practical nowadays, but this is another story...
