My Name is Avenger, I guitar in NOCTURNAL, we are a thrash band from germany.

WHAT'S ABOUT YOUR HISTORY?
I started the band with some friends in 1997 under the name BESTIAL DESECRATION. We released some demos and a 7"EP and split up in 2000. Since I was the only one left I renamed the band into NOCTURNAL and recorded a demo on my own. After a few line up changes we are currently 4 members and we are happy like that.

WHO DECIDED TO FOUND THE BAND?
It was me, I was the only one still interested in making music after the split of BESTIAL DESECRATION.

THE MAIN FACTS IN YOUR HISTORY...
1997: Bestial Desecration founded
1998: First demo "Death and Destruction" released
1999: 2nd Demo "Hell strikes Back" and "Live in Purgatory" Demos released.
Early 2000: "Soldiers of Death" 7" EP released
Middle 2000: BD Split up and NOCTURNAL was founded.
Late 2000: First NOCTURNAL Demo "Rites of the Black Mass" released, Skull Crusher joined on guitar/vocals afterwards. Early 2001: "Slaughter Command" 7"EP released
Middle 2001: Hellbastard (Artillery) and Mayhem (Vocals) joined the band.
Early 2002: "Thrash with the devil" Tape EP released. Jex (Guitar) and Vomitor (Bass) joined the band.
Middle 2002: Played our first gigs.
Early 2003: "Fire of Revenge" 7"EP got recorded
Late 2003: "Thrash with the devil" Vinyl version finally got released. Jex was asked to leave the band.
Early 2004: "Fire of Revenge" 7"EP got released, "Thrash with the devil" got released as MCD. "Outbreak of Evil" Split 7" with VOMITOR, TOXIC HOLOCAUST and BESTIAL MOCKERY released. "The burning of Ranstadt" Livetape released.
Middle 2004: "Arrival of the Carnivore" LP recorded, "Thrashbeast from Hell" Split Cassette with TOXIC HOLOCAUST released.

WHAT'S ABOUT YOUR PREVIOUS RECODING PRODUCTION?
The recordings which I like most are the "Fire of Revenge" and "Slaughter Command" 7"EP´s. The "Fire of Revenge" 7" was recorded in the same studio as "Arrival of the Carnivore".

I GUESS YOU MUST REALLY SATISFIED WITH THIS DEAL WITH DISPLEASED RECORDS...
We are signed to FROM BEYOND PROD. which are a sublabel of Displeased. So far we are very satisfied, they do a lot of good work for us. As a band which had only disappointing experiences with other labels most of the time, this is something completely new to us.

A QUICK INTRODUCTION TO 'ARRIVAL OF THE CARNIVORE'?
We thought the time is right to record an album. Most of the material was written between late 2003 and June 2004. The album has more variations and offers way better musicianship than on our previous stuff.

WHY SUCH TITLE?
Because an album should have a title, and this one rules !

YOUR ALBUM HAS A STRONG BLACK METAL BACKGROUND...
I don´t think so. Even when we are listening to a lot of black metal I don´t think what we are doing is influenced by it, besides the lyrics maybe.

WHAT'S ABOUT ITS MOOD?
I don´t know, and I don´t care.

THE SOUND IS VERY BRUTAL...
I hope so ...

MORE INFOS ABOUT YOUR SOUND?
We try to make it more old school next time. It´s still too digitalized for my taste.

WHAT'S ABOUT YOUR WAY TO WRITE?
I write all the riffs... then I work the songs out with Hellbastard. Later we add the vocals and in the meantime we maybe change this and that. That´s all.

WHAT'S THE ROLE OF LYRICS?
They must be metal, about Sex, drinks and metal to be exact.

Yeah...

INTERESTED IN SPREADING MESSAGES THRU YOUR MUSIC?
No, we are no teachers or people who want to make the world a better place. We are only spreading the message of true Thrash metal terror.

WHAT'S ABOUT YOUR FUTURE PLANS?
We have a few EP´s in the works, like a split 7"EP with NUNSLAUGHTER which should be out since June/July and the label does not answer anymore. Remember the answer to my question about FBP/Displeased before ? The "Raging Rehearsal" 7"EP will be released by FINAL PUNISHMENT Rec´s in early 2005. Still planned are the "Temples of Sin" 7" with demo versions from 3 tracks of the album and 2 Split EP´s with GORGON and WITCHBURNER.

WHAT'S ABOUT YOUR EVERYDAY LIFE?
Not much to tell, just work and metal all day.
