WHO ARE MISERY SPEAKS AS BAND MEMBERS?
J: Yeah my name is Janosch i`m the drummer of MISERY SPEAKS. Behind me there are Stephan ( Guitars) Florian ( Guitars) Martin (Bass) and Claus (Vokills).
WHEN DID YOU HAVE FOUNDED THE BAND?
The Band as founded in 1999 – 2000. But in 2001 we found our perfect line up and our musical path.
WOULD YOU LIKE TO TALK ABOUT THE VERY FIRST BEGINNING OF BAND...
Oh the beginning of the band was not very exciting. But in the last years we developed our musical skills and our songwriting and every step was important for the whole development. I think that this step by step development is the basis for the „success“ that starts right now but it is also hard work to achieve our aims. But i think it`s good because somtimes the hard work pays off.
WHAT'S ABOUT YOUR PREVIOUS RECORDING-EFFORTS?
In the first two years we recorded 2 demos but we played a different sound on this recordings. The sound was not that brutal and bad played. In 2003 we released „things fal apart“. But it was a self release. On the record we started to play this melodic daeth metal style ... inspired by bands like Dark Tranquiliy and old In Flames. But nowadays i would say it is a album with some weak points;especially the production. So „Misery Speaks“ is the first record that I00% MISERY SPEAKS and the first record we are totally happy with.
WHAT'S ABOUT YOUR FOLLOWING?
We are entering the studio in may 2007 to record the next Album. The new material is more varied and the mosh parts will be changed with groovy thrash parts. But on the next record the listener also gets some stuff that he never heard from Misery Speaks before. So watch out...
THE MOST IMPORTANT FACTS IN YOUR HISTORY?
That we got a deal with a record company. And of course that we played many shows with cool people, cool bands and crazy fans. This is why we play this music.
CAN WE DEFINE "MISERY SPEAKS" AS AN ALBUM MIXING THRASH METAL AND DEATH METAL?
Yes of course i think „Misery Speaks“ is melodic death metal with some thrash vibes but the nw material is much more thrash metal so this exactly the appellation i would choose for our music.
THE HIGHTLIGHTS OF YOUR DEBUT ALBUM?
Oh thats difficult. Ithink the highlights are „Haven still waits“ and „I am never enough“ becouse this are the catchyest songs on the record. Than „hate remains“ > this song is pure rage and the most brutal song we`ve writen so far... and „Three Times“ becouse this song is one of the best live songs.
WHAT'S ABOUT THE PRODUCTION OF ALBUM?
E are still happy with the production. We were so glad that Dan Swanö mixed our record becouse he is one of our heroes and a very nice guy. He give us this modern old school sound wich is meaner and much more brutal than the clinical sounds of many bands nowadays. So it’s awesome that he`s in the team for the next record too.
ANY PARTICULAR CONCEPT CONCERNING THE ALBUM?
Lyrical not... it`s mostly personal stuff in the lyrics but also some thought-provoking impulses but we don`t have a thread in it.... and musical our particular concept is to smashing bones and to bash peoples head with some death metal music ?
WHAT'S THE MOOD OF IT?
I think the mood in our music is dark, full of rage and furious anger ?
THE MOST SALIENT ASPECTS OF YOUR NEW ALBUM?
Oh i don`t know but perhaps the last track > „All Bones broken“ because this song is totally different to the other songs... it`s just instrumental and very relaxed with a melancholic mood.
WHAT'S ABOUT THE FEEDBACK?
He Feedback to „Misery Speaks“ was stunning. We are so happy with the good press results and the great reactions of the fans.
WHAT DO YOU WANT TO COMMUNICATE WITH YOUR SOUND?
Oh just having fun on our show and spread some positive agression with brutal metal music ?
TOURING PLANS?
Yeah this X-mas we are part of the santa claws tour with Caliban, Heaven Shall Burn, Neaera, and many other great Bands. Next year we are panning some small tours in spring and i hope wer come ti italy and bang our heads with you.
YOUR LIFE'S PHILOSOPHY?
Oh here i just could talk for myself and i would say one of the most important things is to respect all life on earth and just fight for your ideals. ( i hope that wasn`t to elevated)
THE FUTURE OF THE BAND?
We hope to play some great shows and tours in the future and of course to record some good albums and spread the metal music for many years.
