INTERVISTA TO FISSION
PLEASE, PRESENT YOURSELVES OUR READERS... "This is Benny Hägglund....29 years old.....play guitars, bass and drums in the metal-band Fission." WHAT'S ABOUT YOUR HISTORY? "Started the band in late 2002... I had written a song that was a little bit too hard for one of my former bands....i liked the song but i didnīt exactly know what to do with it,I canīt sing so i gave it to Mr V and he also liked it ,so he added some vocals and keyīs on it and the result was really great...After a few month we had a 2 song demo that we sent to some recordlabels...one of them was Napalm records, They thought the material was awsome (ihope)hehehe....so we inked a deal with them and started to write songs and record what to become "crater"." WHO DECIDED TO FOUND THE BAND? "we both did ...me and Mr V. at the beginning it wasnīt that serious, but after we had done some songs and really liked what we heard we decided to get really serious and go for it 100procent." THE MAIN FACTS IN YOUR HISTORY... "Iīve always been in different band seens i was 10 years old...metal ,rock hardrock and death bands.....me and Mrv. have actually been in the same band like 10 years ago...it wae a deathmetalband called "masticator"..... in 2001 i started to play drums live with Vintersorg....very fun "gang" to play and travel with." WHAT'S ABOUT YOUR PREVIOUS RECODING PRODUCTION? "I have made like 30 demos with my former bands, but we have never released anything on a label." I GUESS YOU MUST REALLY SATISFIED WITH THIS DEAL OF NAPALM RECORDS... "Yes iam....Napalmrecords has been "Vintersorgs label" for like 7 years, he seems to be very satisfied with them. So i think weīre going to work great together..." A QUICK INTRODUCTION TO 'CRATER'? "Hard, melodic and calm with a mix of littlebit of everything......we like to call it "in your face metal"..." WHY SUCH TITLE? "Itīs about "craters" in peaples minds....craters in mother earth... craters in what we call "a great society". Besides all that ill think "crater" sounds hard īn heavy....short and easy to remember." YOUR ALBUM HAS A STRONG GOTHIC BACKGROUND... "You think???.....dontīt know how that really sound so....maybe..." THE SOUND IS VERY COMPLEX... "Yes,Thats the point if your doinī"in your face metal" ;-)" MORE INFOS ABOUT YOUR SOUND? "We wanted it to sound "trashy" ("trashmetallc")....natural drums,bass and overdrived guitars but in a modern style. The keys and the vocals are very variated....from hard and growly blackmetal screams to calm and harmonic singing....and the keys goes from top modern spacy sounds to clean and beautiful panflutes....itīs perfect i think....the songs becomes less boring and more interesting." WHAT'S ABOUT YOUR WAY TO WRITE? "It can be like this...... i watches for example a tv program and a melody popīs up in my "head" ...ill grab the guitar and record the riff in my computer....if I like it i starts to build and write a song of it...and I don't finish it until I'm very satisfied, then I give the material to Mr V and he writes the keyīs and the lyrics. when he is done with that itīs time to do a preproduction with vocals...now when the song is finished we starts with another.....etc..." WHAT'S THE ROLE OF LYRICS? "Itīs Mr V. that have written all the lyrics so he know the answer of this question mouch better than me....but as i told you earlier itīs about craters and odd syndromes in peoples minds." I FEEL AN ANGRY ATTITUDE IN YOUR SOUND... "Hehehehe...yeah, itīs trash-metal so it suppose to sound a bit "angry", but i cant say that iīm an angry person...I like the sound...but i hope not the fans get angry when they play Fission in their Cd-players." INTERESTED IN SPREADING MESSAGES THRU YOUR MUSIC? "No.....thatīs not the point....just enjoy to create music." WHAT'S ABOUT YOUR FUTURE PLANS? "We have started to write songs for the next Fission album that will be released in late 2005 hopefully...at this point itīs in the same direction as crater...very satisfied wAE?u?a ??ith it so far..." WHAT'S ABOUT YOUR EVERYDAY LIFE? "I work as an electrician in a very deep mine......like the work sometimes but hate it sometimes...lives with my girlfriend and her son in a town called skellefteå in the northern part of Sweden....pretty regular life ill guess."
