Ciao!! This is Mike, lead vocalist in the Swedish melodic metal outfit "Cloudscape".
Weīve recently released our album in Italy and the rest of Europe so, if
you havenīt bought our album yet, go to the nearest CD store and buy/order

WHO ARE CLOUDSCAPE AS BAND MEMBERS?
"Cloudscape" consists of 5 hungry musicians called Micael Andersson (Lead
& Background vocals), Bjorn Eliasson (Guitars), Patrik Svard (Guitars),
Hans Persson (Bass & Background vocals) and Roger Landin (Drums & Triangle).
WHEN
DID YOU HAVE FOUNDED THE BAND?
"Cloudscape" came to life in June 2001 from the ashes of a band locally
known in our hometown as "Doctor Weird".
WOULD YOU LIKE TO TALK ABOUT THE VERY FIRST BEGINNING OF BAND...
All of us had previously played together in a band called "Doctor Weird".
We recorded a self-finaced fullength album and tried to get attention from
the record industry but, the feedback was poor so, this led up to some member
departures during the late nineties. In 2001 we decided to start over from
scratch as a new band with completely new songs and a new bandname. We started
to compose songs with more variation stylewise and more focus on melodies
so, in late 2002 we contacted production and management company "Roasting
house" in order to get help from them trying to land a record deal so, here
we are with a brand new album, ready to face the world;).
WHAT'S ABOUT YOUR PREVIOUS RECORDING-EFFORTS?
All of us has played in different bands before so, that included demo recordings
and small live performances. "Doctor Weird" recorded an EP containing 4
songsin 1995 and later on the fullength album which was finished in 1999.
I was keyboard player in "Doctor Weird" but, when we parted ways with the
leadvocalist in DW in early 2001 it became natural for me to take over the
leadvocal responsibilities since I have been a vocalist in all my previous
bands except "Doctor Weird".
WHAT'S ABOUT YOUR FOLLOWING?
I donīt know what you mean with "following"? "Following" albums or "following"
things to happen? Well, Iīll answer both;). We are already composing music
for our next album. The creative ideas canīt be held back so, as long as
time allows we will compose new material which will be in the same vein
as our current release as it seems now. We are currently hoping to get the
opportunity of playing live so, we have contacted a few metal festivals,
Nothing is comfirmed yet but, a European tour would be great so, lets see
what 2005 has to offer us.
THE MOST IMPORTANT FACTS IN YOUR HISTORY?
There are a couple. The birth of "Cloudscape";), the decision to let our
management "Roasting House" help us out, Signing a licensing deal for "Metal
Heaven" and Japanese label "Marquee/Avalon", all the great reviews about
our album that Iīve read in magazines and webzines, and the releaseparty
we held at the Swedish rockclub "The Tivoli" in Helsingborg.
A QUICK INTRODUCING AT 'CLOUDSCAPE'?
Well, we describe "Cloudscape"s music to be "melodic metal with progressive
touches". Melodies and variation among our songs stylewise has and still
are our motto.
SATISFIED TO HAVE SIGNED WITH METAL HEAVEN?
Yeah, absolutely:-))). "Metal Heaven" is one of the best independent labels
in Europe so, we are really, really proud to be signed to such a great record
label!!
WHAT'S ABOUT THE PRODUCTION OF ALBUM?
Our album is produced by Anders "Theo" Theander and co-produced by Pontus
Lindmark. Both Theo and Pontus has the right touch to make our kind of music
blossom. They are top notch producers and we are 120% satisfied with them
as producers. Our album has a quite raw, heavy sound but still very melodic.
ANY PARTICULAR CONCEPT CONCERNING THE ALBUM?
No, there is no concept lyrically. The only concept is that we want variation
among our songs but, without losing the thread but, itīs wrong to call that
a concept.
WHAT'S THE MOOD OF IT?
The album is very dramatic in itīs approach but, thatīs what we wanted.
The mood during the recordings of the album was great. We had a great time
in the studio with many, many unforgettable laughs and moments so, Iīm longing
to get back into the studio and record our next album already;)
I FEEL A STRONG POWER/SPEED BACKGROUND?
Well, thereīs none of us who have a "speed/power" background except for
Patrik (guitars) who played in a quite known death metal band called "Leprosy"
back in the late eighties. I used to sing and play rhythm guitar in a band
that were close to Power metal stylewise in the late eighties together with
Peter Wildoer (Darkane, ex Time Requiem) and Christofer Malmstrom (Darkane).
THE MOST SALIENT ASPECTS OF YOUR NEW ALBUM?
Well, I think that the most salient aspects on our album is the variation
among the songs stylewise. The bottom line is, itīs easier to ask a listener
what they think is the most salient aspect on our album.
WHAT'S ABOUT THE FEEDBACK?
The feedback this far has been absolutely great and we are really happy
about that:-))). 95% of the reviews Iīve read this far is really, really
great:).
WHAT DO YOU WANT TO COMMUNICATE WITH YOUR SOUND?
All melodic metalfans around the world:-))). I hope that our album will
get the attention it deserves, we have worked really hard to come this far
so, we really hope that our album will get a decent welcome into the metal
scene;).
TOURING PLANS?
No, nothing is confirmed yet but, our ambition is to tour so, weīll see
what happens next. We would love to tour Italy:-)))
YOUR LIFE'S PHILOSOPHY?
Be happy, take care of eachother and the children, music is not a fashion....itīs
a way of life;). Laugh as much as you can because, it extends your life;)

THE FUTURE OF THE BAND?
In the nearest future we hope to tour and play at festivals. Besides from
that, continue recording and releasing albums:)
