:: INTERVIEW TO BESEECH

WHAT'S ABOUT YOUR HISTORY?
"We signed our first record deal in 1995 with We Bite/Corrosion Records, recording their first album "...from a bleeding heart" for the label. The music was atmospheric doom/death metal and made use of such classical instruments as the cello, violin and piano, as well as intermittent male and female vocals. Unfortunately, the label suffered a major economic setback and could not release the album. Not until 1998, after we was released from its contract with We Bite/Corrosion Records and secured a deal with Metalblade, did "from a bleeding heart" see the light of day. The delay made it hard for us to focus on the record with its by now old material. New ideas were already grewing and following a promotional period, including many magazine and radio interviews, we and Metalblade Records parted ways. In 1999, did we signed a worldwide deal with Pavement Music and began work on our 2nd release "Black emotions". The music took a different direction than the doom/death-oriented sound found on the first album. It experimented with a more gothic style and cleaner vocals, but the atmosphere and spirit of Beseech was not lost to this new development. "Black Emotions" was released in mid 2000 and the response was tremendous-receiving outstanding reviews and much airtime. We promoted the album by joining forces with Theatre of Tragedy and Lacuna Coil during their 2001 European tour. Due to the unstable economic outlook of Pavement Music, we decided to part ways with the label in 2001. The search for a new label began directly after the recording of a new demo tape. we finally signed a worldwide deal with Napalm Records after negotiating with some labels. Work on "Souls Highway" began in 2001 and the album was released in mid 2002. In 2004 the third album Drama was released and now we work on the 5th album that are supposed to be released before this summer!"

WHO DECIDED TO FOUND THE BAND?
"The history of Beseech finds its birth in 1992, in the band's hometown of Borås (near Gothenburg), Sweden when a couple of guys (Morgan Gredåker and Klas Bohlin) talked about forming a band,. Later in 1992 were the recorded and soon thereafter we became deeply involved in the underground scene, participating in various compilation CD's and so on..."

WHAT'S ABOUT YOUR PREVIOUS RECODING PRODUCTION?
"We are in the middle of producing our fifth album, yet untitled. Almost all songs are allready finished and we are hedding back into the studio in a couple of days. I GUESS YOU MUST REALLY SATISFIED WITH THIS DEAL OF NAPALM RECORDS...
"To be honest we not are that satesfied with their work for us even if they are the best label we had so far, so if the last album are going to be released through Napalm records they have much to prove for us. We not got any support for any tour for the two last albums so that´s really bad in my point of view even if they are not a bookingagency they also must have support from the label."

A QUICK INTRODUCTION TO 'DRAMA'?
"The album "Drama" reflects life, human thoughts and the darker side of mind. when Klas Bohlin left the band after ten years, a different process took over as we began to work more as a team. The changes affected the music on "DRAMA"-the compositions became more experimental, groovier, presented a heavier sound, and both music and lyrics reflected more attitude than ever before."

WHY SUCH TITLE?
"The album reflects life, human thoughts and the struggle life can be sometimes just getting through it. Title the album Drama is a perfect word to describe the lyrics and atmosphere it contains."

YOUR ALBUM HAS A STRONG GOTHIC BACKGROUND...
"We just make music as we like it, we don't want to put a label on what kind of music we present, I belive that is up to our listeners to do."

WHAT'S ABOUT ITS MOOD?
"It´s very variating from darker and more melancholic moods and elements to more open and straight forward songs that don´t deal with the "dark" topics. So you never can expect what to get."

THE SOUND IS VERY COMPLEX...
"Yeah we wanted to change the sound to be more heavy and aggressive, it´s just another experiment from our side, the next album we now recording have little different sound than DRAMA, as we recording it in a differnet way."

MORE INFOS ABOUT YOUR SOUND?
"Firstly we are a band that try to discover new things to not get boored, could be with the sound, music or arrangements in the music. We also work with a great engineer/producer Bullen that also are a big part in the soundcreation. For the new album we now recording we not use so much distortion on the guitars and use more layers to get a clean but yet heavy sound, you can read more about the techical stuff and our equipment on our homepage at www.beseech.net."

WHAT'S ABOUT YOUR WAY TO WRITE?
"We are inspired of many things, self experienced things, moveis, things happening in the world.. Just about everything."

WHAT'S THE ROLE OF LYRICS?
"I believe that the lyrics should feel like a natural compliment to the music."

I FEEL AN ANGRY ATTITUDE IN YOUR SOUND...
"Don´t know about that, but it could be that way as it depends on how you read the lyrics that are written much in a symbolic way. So I can´t say that you´re wrong."

INTERESTED IN SPREADING MESSAGES THRU YOUR MUSIC?
"Not really, we write what we think about and our experiences but our music I think many people can relate to."

WHAT'S ABOUT YOUR FUTURE PLANS?
"The work of completeing the new album is yet to be done, and after that we are planning to hit som summerfestivals and playing as much as we can to spread the new sound."

WHAT'S ABOUT YOUR EVERYDAY LIFE?
"We all have ordinary jobs and on our freetime we are working togheter with Beseech."
