PRESENT YOURSELVES OUR READERS...
"Armistice are devoted to classic Speed and Thrash Metal in the style of bands such as Exodus, Slayer, Annihilator and
their likes. They are committed to that style ever since 1993 - in the beginning with more Power Metal influences - yet
since the release of the "Airraid" CD in 1999, there's no compromise any more and the sound hits you right in the face!
Trends come and go, but the music of Armistice is here to stay and it stays untouched of any new fashions! 13 years and 5
CD productions, more than 130 live shows in Germany and the neighbouring countries brought the four thrashers from the east
of Munich a good reputation in the Metal Scene and made them a loud live band, full of energy, that has already supported
artists like Tankard and Tom Angelripper."
WHO ARE ARMISTICE AS BAND MEMBERS?
"There's Stefan Fischer (guitar/vocals), Manfred "Mannae" Hockauf (guitars), Liz Weichmann (bass) and Stefan "Pastore"
WHEN DID YOU HAVE FOUNDED THE BAND?
"Armistice was founded in 1992."
WOULD YOU LIKE TO TALK ABOUT THE VERY FIRST BEGINNING OF BAND...
"It all began when Stefan and Mannae met at an Iron Maiden concert in Munich. On their way home, they found out, that they
both played guitar and Stefan asked Manfred to join him and Pastore (who played bass back then) and another friend who
played drums for a jam session. After a while, Pastore exchanged the four-string with the drum sticks and they found
Stefano Casto (bass) and David BŁttner (vocals) to complete the band."
WHAT'S ABOUT YOUR PREVIOUS RECORDING-EFFORTS?
"we recorded our first demo tape in the rehearsal room with a borrowed 8-track cassette recorder. This was pure stress.
Then we did the maxi CD "Artful Killing" and the album "Tied" in a little studio near Munich. Even though the result was
not bad, we were absolutely not satisfied. It was not worth the money and the stress. So we decided to buy a hard-disc
recording system based on a normal PC and do as much as possible on our own. This gave us the time and possibilities to
nail down the sound and playing style we wanted. With this approach we recorded the "Airraid" maxi and the albums "Hot on
the Trail" and "Roots of Evil" also. Doing this we are independent of anyone else, can take all the time we need and really
optimise the production. We also did the complete layout of the last CD."
WHAT'S ABOUT YOUR FOLLOWING?
"We plan to record our next CD as soon as we have written enough songs for it. So we hope to be back in the studio sometime
next year. Expect a real "into-the-face-recording"! We will keep all the trademark elements and add a good portion of speed."

HOW TO INTRODUCE US "ROOTS OF EVIL"?
"well, "Roots of Evil" is basically a speed/thrash album in the bay area style. On the other hand it is a very versatile
album. The songs feature many tempo changes and instrumental passages. There are some doomy parts as well as high speed
parts. There is also a mid tempo song that sounds like AC/DC meeting Megadeth. Other songs maybe sound more Slayer-like."
WHY SUCH TITLE?
"We figured that the title "Roots of Evil" is the bottom line of the album, lyrically as well as musically. The lyrics,
for example, deal with all sorts of "roots of evil" such as child soldiers, fundamental religion, war, sex and aggression.
The cover - which is a collage designed by Stefan Fischer - also represents those aspects of life."
WHAT'S ABOUT THE PRODUCTION OF ALBUM?
"We recorded everything on our own hard disc recording equipment. We do not need to rent much stuff. So we could spend
plenty of time for the production, our best playing as well as for the mixdown and mastering. We do all this on our own,
so we can really nail down our vision. So we are in the happy situation that we are completely independent, have everything
under control and don't have to spend a horrible amount of money for some expensive studio or producer. This leaves us also
with all the energy and enough money for the next one."
ANY PARTICULAR CONCEPT CONCERNING THE ALBUM?
"Well, there was no real concept musically. There were just a couple of good songs we wanted to record. The title "Roots of
Evil" gives it a kind of concept, though. In the end there was the concept of a "full package". We did the CD for the fans,
as well as for promotion. You got videos, pictures, lyrics and the stuff needed by the press."
WHAT'S THE MOOD OF IT?
"Compared to the previous records it's a bit more dark, I'd say. There was the bassist change, the problems with the
contract on the last CD and other stuff. It's also more experimental and less straight forward than the last one. But it
seems that this also wins lots of people because the album is very versatile and interesting. Often albums get boring if
the songs are all too similar. Nevertheless we want to make the next album a little faster in average."
THE SOUND IS WELL STRUCTURED BRUTAL THRASH, RIGHT?
"This is also a good description. We always liked bands like Annihilator, Megadeth or Overkill. Not just aggression without
end, but adding some refinement like tempo changes, odd meters, breaks, solos. Of course we definitely don't want to bore
anyone with too much technique, this is just to spice things up a bit. Overall we make a kind of very hard rock'n roll that
will make the fans bang their head and break their neck."
THE MOST SALIENT ASPECTS OF YOUR NEW ALBUM?
"For a classic thrash album it's very versatile. In the reviews almost every time other songs are mentioned as highlights.
Each song features plenty of great guitar riffs, tempo changes and other things that keeps the whole album interesting."
WHAT'S ABOUT THE FEEDBACK?
"We got mostly real good feedback for "Roots of Evil", from Fanzines around the world and from "fans". That makes us very
happy and is a source of motivation for playing live and writing songs for the next album. We also got a very good review
from on of the most important magazines in Germany, "Rock Hard"."
WHAT DO YOU WANT TO COMMUNICATE WITH YOUR SOUND?
"The songs are meant to be played live. They shall transport the feeling of energy, loudness, madness, moshing, drinking,
having a good time."
"We want to play as many shows as possible to promote our new album. We are playing gigs in Germany and we plan to play
some shows in other European countries. We hope that the Italian booking agency (Headbanging Agency), we have signed a
contract with, makes it possible for us to play a small European Tour next year and maybe some festivals in Italy. Playing
live is the most important goal for us - as a band, and the primary reason to record CDs."
YOUR LIFE'S PHILOSOPHY?
THE FUTURE OF THE BAND?
"Armistice exists for 13 years. And we doubt, that there's anything that can mute us!"
ANY LAST REMARKS?
