PRESENT YOURSELVES OUR READERS...
"We are Adramelech, a death metal band from Finland, been around since 1991. I'm Jarkko, the drummer of this band. Hello everyone!"
WHO ARE ADRAMELECH AS BAND MEMBERS?
"Marko Silvennoinen - vocals, Jari Laine - guitars (+ bass on album), Jarkko Rantanen - drums."
WHEN DID YOU HAVE FOUNDED THE BAND?
"This band was formed back in 1991, I am the only original member of the band, there has been a lot of line-up changes..."
WOULD YOU LIKE TO TALK ABOUT THE VERY FIRST BEGINNING OF BAND...
"The first ever time Adramelech introduced itself to the scene was the release of our first rehearsal tape "Human Extermination". It was simply recorded with a tape-recorder and the sound was, as everyone can imagine, terrible!!!"
WHAT'S ABOUT YOUR PREVIOUS RECORDING-EFFORTS?
"We did another rehearsal, then two studio demos, and with the second demo, we got a recording deal with Repulse Records (Spa). Repulse released our "Psychostasia" in 1997, CD and later MCD "Seven" (1998). The second full-length CD "Pure Blood Doom" was released on our own label Severe Music (2000), and this recent album, "Terror of Thousand Faces" by the successor of Repulse, Xtreem Music this year."
WHAT'S ABOUT YOUR FOLLOWING?
"Let's see, we haven't been active for a couple of years now, but we haven't split. Lately we have discussed about starting to work with some new material. We have no hurry and I won't promise anything, time shall tell..."
THE MOST IMPORTANT FACTS IN YOUR HISTORY?
"The three released albums of course, and Repulsive Tour was also a big experience for us, because of the constant line-up problems, we haven't been able to play live so much. Those are the main facts I think."
WOULD YOU LIKE TO PRESENT YOUR NEW ALBUM "TERROR OF THOUSAND FACES"?
"Terror of Thousand Faces" is quite natural continuation to our earlier albums, the basic elements of Adramelech songs are still present, but I think we have also found some new ideas and the new album is more varied than the previous ones. "Orphica Holodemiurgia" is a song that cannot be compared to any stuff we have done earlier, it's a slow track, no vocals, I wanted to do something different from the other songs and I think I managed quite well with that."
WHY DID YOU SIGN FOR XTREEM MUSIC?
"Well, they were the only reasonable company who was interested. Our music is far from fashionable, even if death metal is again more popular nowadays. We could have released it through Severe Music, but Xtreem was a better choice as we wanted to quit with Severe, we have no resources, and no time enough to do it properly anymore."
WHAT'S ABOUT THE PRODUCTION OF ALBUM?
"We didn't manage in that 100%, but we wanted to get a sound that is more raw and suitable for death metal, and in that we were successful. The sound of "Pure Blood Doom" was good, but for a death metal band it was, in my opinion, too clinical..."
ANY PARTICULAR CONCEPT CONCERNING THE ALBUM?
"Nothing so special, "Terror of Thousand Faces" is an album that I am happy with, but there are also many things that I would like to improve. "
WHAT'S THE MOOD OF IT?
"Could I say aggressive. But after all that aggression, it ends peacefully like taking some breath before new storm...Some of the lyrics are also very aggressive."
THE SOUND IS A BOMBASTIC BRUTAL DEATH METAL, RIGHT?
"That's what we wanted it to be after that too clean and not so brutal sound of "Pure Blood Doom", and I think we managed to reach that goal, the sound is much more suitable into our style of music."
THE MOST SALIENT ASPECTS OF YOUR NEW ALBUM?
"I think in this album we have some aspects you can't find so much from our previous albums, some new drum comps, more varied vocals than before, more some small things with guitars. This album, I think, is more varied, but also a more straightforward album."
WHAT'S ABOUT THE FEEDBACK?
"I have read some reviews and mostly the album has got quite good response, and of course I'm happy with that, even if we didn't release anything for a short eternity, our music didn't seem to get too outdated. It gives us some positive spirit to continue. Slowly as always..."
WHAT DO YOU WANT TO COMMUNICATE WITH YOUR SOUND?
"I don't understand your question..."
"No. We have no possibilities, we haven't practiced for ages, we don't have all the musicians needed to play live, but I hope we can one day do at least a couple of gigs. But it's not gonna happen soon!"
YOUR LIFE'S PHILOSOPHY?
"Be ready to try (almost) everything and anything, that's the only way to achieve something. And even if you don't achieve anything by trying, at least you get some experiences and you can say "hey, at least I tried"..."
THE FUTURE OF THE BAND?
"I guess I have discussed about this topic quite a lot already. But no one knows what will become, maybe a fourth full-length, maybe nothing..."
ANY LAST REMARKS?
"Thanks a lot for your long interview! It took some time to answer, but I hope you liked it. All of you, including the readers!!!"
