INTERVIEW TO VICIOUS RUMORS - ITALIAN VERSION
Q: So, you're taking part to several important music festivals…
A: Yeah, we just performed at the Wacken Open Air Festival.
Q: Oh, how was it?
A: Oh, it was amazing, just having 40.000 people, just incredible
fans, it's really a great experience!
Q:
Are you going to prepare a new album?
A: Absolutely, we're recording for a live album and a live DVD. These
are going to be our next releases. But also we've been writing for a studio
album, and so our plan is to prepare a live album and a live DVD this year,
and then a new studio album next year.
Q: This live DVD will contain scenes from all festival you're taking
part?
A: Yes, all kind of stuff, we played "Bang Your Head" with Judas
Priest last year, we also travelled in America… This DVD is gonna cover
the carrer of Vicious Rumors for the last five years. Also you can find
travelling scenes, backstages, interviews and so on.
Q:
How did the audience said "welcome" to you, even at Wacken Open Air?
A: Oh, super, just open arms, fists in the air… wonderful! It's very
special for us to come and play in Italy, we've been here four / five times,
but never to the deep south like this time: it's very special, I think,
for all of us being here for the first time. It's a good experience to play
in Italy!
Q: Geoff, you're the only surviving member of the historical original
band. Do you think Vicious Rumors belong to you (as a solo project), or
is there a sort of association of ideas and work between you and the others
of the band?
A: Well, it's definitely a band, I'm just the leader, I've been the
leader of the band since the beginning, so I always try to keep the same
well. We work together as a team, and every team has a leader and that's
me. It's a team ever, and that's the way I always tried to build the band,
and when you create a team and everyone's working like that, things happens
much smoother and just feel more powerful together.
Q:
So, Brian O'Conner is the new singer…
A: Yes, he's the new singer but also Brian was in the band before,
when we made the "Cyber Christ" album in 1998 and toured with Blind Guardian
in Germany. Then Brian had left the band to do other things and we recorded
the "Sadistic Symphony" album with another singer that didn't work out,
so the first thing I could do was call Brian back. Since Brian returned
we made a tour for the "Sadistic Symphony" album and now we're working together
on a new album and for the future.
Q: As far as you are concerned, are there some negative factors in
your carrer (besides Carl Albert's death) which prevented you to reach successful
targets?
A: That's an interesting question. First of all, I'd like to say
that I feel very successful; to continue to make albums and tours and still
being in the music industry… I don't feel like I'm successful… I feel like
I'm "extremely" successful! In second way, I'd like to say that whenever
you have a family, or a group, or a business or any other relationship with
other people for long, you gonna have ups and downs; we worked together
for twenty years, so they could happen ups and downs in twenty years. Now
thing are going back up for us, people at festivals see a new band, with
a new line-up and can feel the power we have all together.
Q: Would you like to say something to all Italian fans come here
to see you?
A: We just wanna say a Huge Vicious Rumors THANK YOU to fans in Italy,
we're glad to play here tonight!
