:: INTERVIEW TO RAY
VOLVA FROM RED AIM - italian version
1. Ok, Read
Aim are back and the fun is back so.
Your` re right, RED AIM is back with a very powerful album and I think,
that the people can have a lot of fun with this record. We are very enthusiastic
about that. But be careful: Some guys expended by listening to the music,
so lifesaving equipment were needed. Consider that people have also to be
strong, when they want to listen to our powerful music!
2. Please introduce us Niagara and what are the main difference of Niagara”
form “Flesh for fantasy”?
First of all: “Niagara” is a modern Rock` n` Roll album. It’s a mixture
of heavy groove songs and some very hard and fast rocking tracks. We took
a long time for the songwriting, because it is important for us to have
compact songs with impressible refrains. So we leave all the “jam” stuff
out. On this album we were musically more influenced by bands like Deep
Purple, Black Sabbath and other 70`s heroes: On the one side, you can hear
some Stoner Rock influences on the other side also some melodies, who can
remember to some seventy style. Niagara is in that way different to “Flesh...”
that it is more serious. It hadn’t make sense to put in all the fun stuff
like at the last time. The last record was a statement against categories.
The band wanted to leave the brand of making only Stoner Rock music. We
don’t ignore these roots at all but we want out of these bounds. Albums
like “Orange” or “Saartanic Cluttydogs” fitted more in “the stoner rock
scene”.
3. How born
the idea to use a kid’s chorus in “Salamander”
The kid’s chorus is not only on “Salamander”. The idea of using a choir
is quite old for us. We want to do that quite earlier. But it was not possible:
We had a lot of rehearsals with different types of choirs: Women, men, mixed
ones and children. But until to this record we didn’t found a good singing
choir. Luckily we founded one now, who was qualified to be up to our high
level standard.
4. The lyrics of “Burnout in Israel” are speaking about…
Ha, I’ve waited for this question… Almost everybody supposes something political
behind that. This song is dedicated to the “Axe of Freedom Motorcycle Club
Tel Aviv”. They like our music and some guys of these club act as security
personal at our shows. We want to show, that Tel Aviv has a great Rock `n`
Roll scene! Peace!
5. I’ve
listen more keyboards on this platter than the last.
You are listening to more Hammond organ and Rhodes on this album, right.
I came to the band one and a half year ago and so I was involved in the
song writing process for “Niagara”. So it would be a shame for me, if you
are not able to hear more heavy organ, on this record, ha, ha. Otherwise
I have to look for an new job like a trainer for white tigers in Las Vegas.
By the way, the distorted organ spends RED AIM their typical sound.
6. Give us some words about the instrumental song.
They enrich the album with their openness and variety and they enlarge the
album, ha, ha. On the other side, theses songs gave Caruso and Nicele, our
Mexican friends, the opportunity to perform on this record. So, it has also
another advantage: Theses guys have a lot of friends and all their friends
will buy our album now!! That will be a big pleasure for our record company.
7. Why “Niagara”? Because your music is furious like the Niagara Falls
Yeah, you understand! Originally the title is influenced by an underground
movie, which has a lot to do with sexual exposing, ha, ha. Some “right in
your face stuff”, and that, you’ve mentioned it, is the way we approach
to our music: Furious like the Niagara Falls.
8. Tour
We want to go on a stage as much as possible. We are working on it. Our
label company Metal Blade wants to achieve a support tour with a bigger
headliner. I hope, it will be possible so that we can play live shows in
your area. Everybody should have the chance to enjoy our powerful live shows.
Everybody has to sweat!
9. Your last words please.
Enjoy the “Niagara” – (falls) and keep smiling. And a message for the girls:
Visit our shows, because we want to get more girls.
