INTERVIEW TO SABINA CLASSEN FROM HOLY MOSES - versione
italiana
Well,
Holy moses has returned with a new album called "Strenght, Power, Will,
Passion" what are the most important differences between this new album
and the latest?
I think the most important is that now since the Disorder Of The Order
Tour in 2002 – Michael Hankel joined the band, and I started to write
a lot new aggressive material with my new guitar player and I feel in
the same mood as 20 years ago. I feel much younger and more aggressive
and intensive in the last few years. I am looking ahead!
Where do you get the inspiration to do the lyrics? From the title
of each songs, seem that the lyrics are of pure fantasy? Or they are about
experiences of true life?
To give you an idea of how I go about the songs and working with Michael,
I’ll use “Rebirthing“ as an example. It’s a typical Holy Moses thrash
song with backing vocals to support my main message, it’s quick and hard
but with the typical Holy Moses rafinesse. When Michi was writing this
song and I first heard the riffs, I knew that this song would bring out
all my inner anger… Hate, lies and intrigue rule the planet – in a small
or larger way – it’s not just in politics because politics begin in our
own inner circles… This anger can often sap your strength and energy to
fight against this, once being aware of this, depression can set in and
you feel helpless against the events. Stopping this process is called
“Rebirthing”, in other words, stepping back and taking a breath to find
your own solutions. Releasing your own energy blockade by finding peace
in your own self… You’ll find similar messages in all the lyrics and that
we’ve fit the individual moods of the riffs together with mood of the
text. I think that this is what makes this album so special. Everything
just fits perfectly together and this is the kind of working I was doing
in the whole process with the new Holy Moses album together with Michael.
I were very impressed about this new album..I like it very very
much..it pure fucking german thrash metal! What do you think about this
new album? Are you satisfied about it?
Yes, I am totally satisfied. It is like you said – pure fucking german
thrash metal and it sounds like it has to sound. I think it is the best
one we’ve ever produced. All my feelings are in the album – and I am really
happy with it.
I
have listen new albums of reformed thrash bands from the'80 like Destruction,
Assassin, Kreator...but Only Holy Moses and Sodom , for me, remained like
the'80...Why do you have chosen this way?
I think because I‘ve not chosen this way, I am this way – hahahahahahahaha
– it`s my kind of feeling about the music I like to do – and I am not
thinking about other bands, other trends and styles – I am on the only
way of my one and only way of Sabina`s kind of thrash music.
And about the european tour? Will there be the chance to see Holy
Moses in Italy?
We’ll be playing a lot of live gigs – At the end of April we started with
a couple of shows for the release, then as of 4th of may we’ll be on the
road for 15 days with the Wacken Roadshow along with our label collgues
Suidakra and also Illdisposed and Regiceide. After that we’ll be playing
some festivals such as the Rock Harz Festival – then we’ll be hitting
foreign lands – including this year Japan and the USA. Also we will be
coming to Holland and Belgium, so I hope we can be on the road a lot in
this year…
What are the most old bands from the'80 that have influenced and
are influencing your sound?
That is a great question – I mean, it was in the beginning bands like
Deep Purple, Black Sabbath – later on we got also in contact with bands
like Venom, Slayer, Celtic Frost, Possessed, Voivod, Bathory – but we
are also influenced by a kind of punk music from the 80ies.
I suppose that in your new and especially in the old Lp's there
is a markable hardcore influence (I remember the cover of Dirty Rotten
Imbecilles on your Reborn Dogs lp)...isn't it?
Yeah, hardcore style was also with holy moses all the time – I think it
has a lot to do with our old style of punk music.
I'm an old vinyl collector.. there is the possibility the get
your new album on Lp format?
Yes – you can get it as a 666 limited picture disc edition – perhaps we
maybe thinking about black vinyl also, `cause a lot of fans asking for
that!
Some final words...
Strength Power Will Passion!!!!!
