:: INTERVIEW TO FALCONER
- versione italiana
Introduce us “the Sceptre of Deception”
It is the first concept album by Falconer. Heavier and faster than the 2:nd, more varied and dramatic than the 1:st. Also the change of singer makes this album into something new.
In your music the chorus are very important
Yes they are. I'm a real “hook” guy, music without good melodies and hooks is nothing for me. I think that when you are writing a song the chorus should be the crown upon the creation. Something you remember after listening to the song.
How is change the way to do music for you since “Falconer”?
For this album I had to adapt the music to the lyrics instead of the other way around. For the first album I did it more like with Mithotyn where I thought you could mix too different riffs now I think a bit more logical. The melodies line has to flow more thoughtful than I realised on some tracks on the 1:st album.
Can we have some words for each cd you release?
FALCONER: Easy and folkish Heavy Metal with some remains from my days with Mithotyn.
CHAPTERS FROM A VALE FORLORN: More varied and a bit slower than the debut.
THE SCEPTRE OF DECEPTION: Even more varied but faster than the 2:nd. The concept of the album makes the whole album more dark. Also the new vocalist brings a more metal feeling to the band.
Your music is very epic, what’s the way to create an epic song?
I have no idea actually. This is just the truest way I can make music. The folk touches in the music just comes naturally, you could say I need inspiration to make something different instead. As I said before I love strong melodies and I do think some folk music is good but I really never listen to it. I think one way to do Epic music is to forget about if it's metal, or this or that just as long as you can whistle on it.
The song I’ve like more in “The Sceptre of Deception” is “Child of Innocence” some word on the song?
The only song I got some help with musically. Anders and I did the music
for this one. Mathias sang it since this kind of song is perfect for him
where a song like “pledge for freedom” is so much better done by Kristoffer
than Mathias could have done it. It's the song where the story ends in a
quite unexpected way. A kind of anti-climax of all who strived for the crown
in the concept. Not metal at all but very good, could have been longer but
as I said earlier: This time I adapted the music to fit the lyrics.
The sceptre of deception is a concept about
Yes it certainly is. It’s like a Swedish kind of Macbeth but it’s a true story. It’s about 3 brothers in early 14:Th century. One of them becomes king, leaving the 2 brothers not too satisfied with the situation. It’s a lot of intrigues, deceits, murders and wars to obtain the crown. All three of them play a dirty game but as the title says, they strive to get the sceptre of deception....
The cover of your cd are very beautiful are like a painting…
Yes I love them too. Especially for this album I think the cover really can tell you what the lyrics are about. In the past they were just nice covers really not saying anything about the album.
Live show in the future…
We will do our first tour in January with DOOMSWORD as support. Maybe a bit short but it's a start and also about time we get out on the roads. We will play in Germany, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Hungary. We're also looking fof festivals for the summer to play on.
Ok our time is at the end, please give us your last few words.
