:: INTERVIEW TO DORO PESCH - versione italiana
From the release of “Fight” till today, maybe this is the more exciting period of your carrier...is that true?
Oh yes, it is a really great time for all of us I think. I could feel it in 1999, that Heavy Metal was coming back in a strong exciting way and that the hard times when Grunge music was so big were over. The 90’s were really hard to survive and for many years we did not get good support for our kind of music, but thank god now it’s almost as big as it was in the 80’s and I’m very very happy about that.
Are you satisfied about all things happened in these months, between good albums like “Fight” or “Classic Diamonds” and the long tours which followed these releases?
I’m totally satisfied. It was the longest tour in 10 years with our “Fight” album and a great tour with Saxon all over Europe in the end of 2003 and a really fantastic new experience with the whole orchestra. The concerts, the fans, the many cool places, the new countries like Australia and Thailand...the last years were just a dream. It has been very exciting!
20 years of carrier are yet a good target for every artist... But what’s the secret which always keeps you younger and younger?
I really love being on tour and making people happy. That’s what I always try to give my best in any situation or at concert or while doing a record and when I feel I can touch people hearts that’s what I live for and it inspires and motivates me so much that it keeps me going and keeps me young.
Another argument; about you, are there in hard rock / heavy metal scene still prejudices about the fact that there is a frontwoman in a band?
No, I think it is totally accepted now to have a woman in the band and I tell you I never had a bad experience. I always got treated very good and with respect in all these years.
Is for this fact that you wanted to dedicate your song "Fight" to your friend boxing champion Regina Halmich? Don't you think that this song talks about you too?
Yeah, you’re right in many ways it is a big fight and I always had this feeling that I had to be a real fighter to survive, to stay my ground, to fight for the music, you always have to fight for something wich is so sacred to you or for something you love...and you know how much I love the music and the fans and therefore I’m always ready to fight and I know I would never give up even when it gets really hard.
Let’s talk about “Classic Diamonds”...How do you feel listening your best songs played by an orchestra?
That’s a wonderful feeling and I think some of the songs sound amazing and it makes ‘em shine and in some ways more intense and deep and bombasticly beautiful.
But among all your collaborations you had with other artists (Gene Simmons, Udo, Lemmy, Slash, Peter Steele etc), which one will you remember forever?
All of them will stay with me forever and all of them were extremly special it was always a highlight in my life and I’m very very thankful and happy that I had these great people collaborating with me. I think they put magic into the records and songs and into my life. Every single one in unique special way.
It is known, that you include a song in your language in your albums.
But have you ever thought to write a whole album in German?
Well, sometimes I was thinking of doing 2 cds; one in english and the other one in all kinds of different languages but so far I haven’t done it. Maybe in the future...
How your next album is going to be?Its title, “Warrior Soul”, seems to be more interesting...
Oh, I’m so excited about the new songs and I can imagine the fans will love the big anthems on “Warrior Soul”. One anthem is called “Strangers Yesterday” and I can already imagine that this one could be their favorite song to sing along in the concerts and the other one is “Above The Ashes”: I think it has one of the nicest melodies and I love that song so much that I can hardly wait to play it for the people...Then there are some cool songs to headbang to, they are really fast and heavy and I think it’s something what the real Heavy Metal fans will like and there are some big grand epic songs as well some beautiful dark ballads and some real nice surprises...
I hope that we will finish the record in December and I think the release will be in March 2006.
Is there something you’d like to say to all your Italian fans?
I wanna go on a nice long tour and I hope we will see each other somewhere down the road at a nice concert in Italy. I’m looking foreward very very much to play there again and I wanna say:
Stay hard everybody! Rock on and “all we are”!
Lots of love!
I love you guys you know that and you’re always “deep inside my heart”...
Fur immer!!!!!
Doro.
