Ok introduce us “Spreading The Rage”
SPREADING THE RAGE is DISBELIEF´s latest and fifth album and it is the best
we ever did! The reaction of the media and the fans was amazing. We reached
No. 1 in German ROCK HARD and LEGACY and position 5 in METAL HAMMER. In
the January edition of ROCK HARD we entered the readers charts on position
12. This means a lot to us, because after playing many shows in and around
Germany we convince people with our music and the songs on SPREADING THE
RAGE are the perfect tool to reach that. They really hit the point and leave
a deep emotional impression on the listener. The album contains a lot of
different atmospheres like power (ETHIC INSTINCT; TO THE SKY), depression
(DROWN;INSIDE MY HEAD), rage (SPREADING THE RAGE; DEATH WILL SCORE) and
as well strength giving moments like NO MORE LIES or IT´S GOD GIVEN! We
also did a cover version of KILLING JOKE´S “Democracy” , which really fits
to the rest of the album and that is another additional highlight!
What are the main difference from your last album and how you think your
music is grown up your music since Disbelief born?
The main difference is the fact, that we had much more time for song writing
and the production. For the previous album SHINE we had to finish all this
within 2 month and this time we spent nearly 10 month for the songs and
had 2 weeks of recording and one week just for the mix. Another influence
was the amount of live shows we did. This helps you to improve the arrangements
of the songs to make it easier for the first time – listener to understand
what is behind your music. Our music developed a lot since we started with
DISBELIEF. In the early days our sound was pure and traditional death metal
and nowadays it is just one of many influences. So we kept tight to our
roots but made them grow and survivable for the future!
“Spreading The Rage” is an album that we can define “melodic death metal”
but is not only this, the are many influence like gothic, industrial…
Like you mentioned it is not easy to define the DISBELIEF sound! We live
in a time where people obviously need a clear definition of your sound,
otherwise they seem to be confused. When I am asked to define it I always
tell people, that we play the most extreme way of rock music! All the terms
that you used in your question are part of our sound, because we listen
to a lot of different styles of music and of course they influence us! But
to enlighten it for the fans: we do extreme and emotional rock music, because
that´s it where metal and later death metal and all the other styles developed
from!
Three reason to by “Spreading the Rage”
1. It is incomparable to other bands!
2. It is the missing link between bands like BOLT THROWER and DEFTONES!
3. The production and artwork is powerful and brilliant!
I think the winning points of this album are the voice e the guitar
line…
Yes, Jagger´s voice is unique and in connection with those guitar melody
lines it makes the impression so very deep. He has also a big spectrum-
his clean vocals , high screams and deep growls – everything fits to the
special song and makes the album sound many – sided.
Can we have some words about “To the Sky” and “It’s God Given? What’
your favourite son on this album and why?
TO THE SKY is a very powerful song that is about the wish of humanity to
conquer the universe. But sometimes it is a nightmare when catastrophes
like the COLUMBIA crash happen and the danger and high risk gets clear again.
IT´S GOD GIVEN is a deep emotional, groovy and melodic song that wants to
show that people should strengthen their believe in themselves and their
family and friends. They should not rely on a God or a clerical ruled religion.
Community is important and worth fighting for, but often the believe was
misused by religious organisations and to avoid this, keep it in the family!
I really do not prefer a single song on our album, because as the main composer
I have a special relation to every song. Sometimes it depends on my mood,
which one I prefer, but I cannot talk about it generally.
You’ll be on tour supporting Death Angel, and the then like headliner,
there’s some chance to see you in the south of Italy?
We are planning to do many shows abroad and of course Italy, too. DISBELIEF
is not that common in your country and we want to change this by playing
there regulary. One chance could be the tour with SOILWORK in February and
March 2004, but it is not confirmed, yet. On the tour with DEATH ANGEL we
played in Milano and this was really good. So watch out for DISBELIEF –
perhaps we are coming soon!!
A Disbelief’s live show is like ...
an emotional hurricane that infects you with groove and intensive performing.
The melodies will stay in your head and you will feel very satisfied!
Tell me something about the lyrics, please.
With the lyrics we just want to express what we felt when we listened to
the song for the first time. We want to give the listener a view in our
soul and the music stresses this intention. Sometimes, like NO MORE LIES,
we slip in the character of another person and try to describe his state
of emotions or conscious. ETHIC INSTICT is about a mean guy, that misuses
peoples trust and hope and who fakes them – a so called asshole. So it is
just as simple as that: if you want to know what a song lyrically is about
, you can just read the lines.
This is the end, please give us your last words
First of all I want to thank you for your interest in DISBELIEF! When we
play in Italy and you – the fans – like extreme music, I want to invite
you to one of our shows and enjoy this concert. I am really looking forward
